Abstract

A study conducted at Amsterdam University Medical Center has found that an Artificial Intelligence-Large Language Model (AI-LLM) can improve the readability of knee radiology reports. The researchers inserted a prompt command into the AI-LLM to generate reports that explain the radiology findings in layman's terms. The AI-LLM-generated reports showed statistically significant improvements in readability scores compared to the original reports. However, the AI-LLM did produce some inaccurate text, so it is important for physicians to engage in collaborative discussions with patients to ensure accurate understanding. This study suggests that AI-LLMs have the potential to enhance patients' understanding of their imaging reports and reduce the burden on physicians. [Extracted from the article]
