Abstract
- A new report from the Osaka International Cancer Institute discusses the impact of incidental pulmonary embolism (PE) on the long-term prognosis of cancer patients. The study used data from a hospital-based cancer registry and electronic medical records to analyze the characteristics of cancer and venous thromboembolism (VTE) and the effect of incidental PE on patient survival. The study found that incidental PE in cancer patients was associated with a higher risk of all-cause mortality. The research concluded that cancer-related factors, rather than thrombosis-related factors, determine prognosis. [Extracted from the article]
