Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at GLA University in Uttar Pradesh, India, focused on the synthesis, characterization, and pharmacological screening of mutual prodrugs of etodolac, a drug commonly used for pain and inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis. The researchers synthesized different amino acid methyl esters conjugated with etodolac to enhance protein synthesis and provide antioxidant action. The synthesized prodrugs demonstrated sustained release of the parent drug and had more analgesic and anti-inflammatory potential than etodolac. Additionally, the prodrugs had a lower ulcerogenic index than the parent drug. The study utilized various characterization techniques such as IR spectroscopy, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and mass spectrometry.
