Abstract

A recent report from Rome, Italy discusses the relationship between diabetes and mental health. Researchers have been using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) to explore the association between glucose-related metrics and psychological aspects. The study found that higher levels of sadness/depression correlated with lower %TIR (time in range) and higher %TAR (time above range). The research suggests that %TIR may play a positive role in reducing depressive feelings in individuals with diabetes, while depressive feelings may have a negative impact on achieving desirable CGM outcomes. The study also highlights the potential role of glycemic variability, particularly hyperglycemia, in the expression of depressive and sad feelings. [Extracted from the article]
