Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of Queensland explores the lack of support for sexuality after spinal cord injury. The study involved in-depth interviews with 11 individuals from Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States who have spinal cord injuries. The analysis revealed that healthcare professionals need to recognize the diverse desires, lives, relations, and bodies of people with spinal cord injuries and provide individualized comprehensive sexuality support. The researchers emphasize the importance of healthcare professionals being aware of and mitigating ableist and normative assumptions to achieve this. [Extracted from the article]
