Abstract
- A study conducted at Yale University examined the challenges of perioperative pain management for opioid-tolerant patients. The researchers surveyed a group of 25 surgeons and 25 anesthesiologists to assess their knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and practices regarding pain management in these patients. The study found that while most participants recognized the challenges of managing pain in opioid-tolerant patients, there were variations in their recommendations for preoperative pain consultation and the use of regional anesthesia. The researchers concluded that there is a need to improve knowledge and perceptions among the surgical and anesthesia teams to achieve optimal outcomes for patients. [Extracted from the article]
