Abstract

A study conducted at Peking University People's Hospital in Beijing, China, has found that androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for prostate cancer is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. The researchers focused on the role of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in ADT-associated atherosclerosis and found that FSH elevation exaggerated endothelial inflammation and promoted monocyte-endothelial adhesion, leading to atherosclerosis. The study concluded that FSH is responsible for ADT-associated atherosclerosis by exacerbating endothelial inflammation and promoting monocyte-endothelial adhesion. This research provides new insights into the mechanisms behind ADT-associated cardiovascular diseases. [Extracted from the article]
