Abstract

A recent report from the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Spain discusses new findings on cancer gene therapy. The researchers focused on a therapy called Celyvir, which uses mesenchymal stem cells containing an oncolytic virus to treat cancer. The study used mathematical models to analyze the dynamics and optimal control of neuroblastoma and its treatment. The researchers found that a periodic bang-bang regime should be used to optimize treatment with Celyvir, and that a low viral load could lead to relapse of the disease. The study provides insights into the relationships between cancer, the immune system, and adenoviruses. [Extracted from the article]
