Abstract

Apple is preparing for the threat of quantum computing by introducing a new form of encryption for iMessage. Quantum computers have the potential to render current encryption methods obsolete due to their ability to solve mathematical problems much faster. Apple's new encryption protocol, PQ3, is designed to be resistant to quantum attacks by using more complex mathematics. However, there is still no industry consensus on post-quantum standards, and the timeline for a quantum breakthrough remains uncertain. Nonetheless, Apple's actions may encourage other companies to prepare for the future impact of quantum computing. [Extracted from the article]
