Abstract

This article, published in the British Journal of Dermatology, discusses the role of neutrophil infiltration in allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) to nickel. ACD is a common inflammatory skin disease, and it is typically observed through patch testing on the back of patients. While previous studies have not shown significant neutrophil infiltration during ACD, this study found that neutrophils do play an important role in human ACD reactions. The authors suggest that targeting the survival of allergen-specific CD8+ TRM cells or their ability to recruit neutrophils could be a novel strategy for treating ACD. The study was supported by various funding sources and the authors declare no conflicts of interest. [Extracted from the article]
