Abstract

The article discusses two recent cases related to Israeli military actions in Gaza. In the United States, human rights organizations filed a complaint against the Biden administration, seeking to prevent aid to Israeli attacks on Palestinians in Gaza. The court ultimately dismissed the case, citing limitations on the court's power in matters of foreign policy. In the Netherlands, a court ruled that the Dutch government must stop exporting fighter jet parts to Israel. However, the impact of this ruling may be limited due to the availability of alternative sources for the parts. The article also mentions two separate cases involving international law. In the first case, a Dutch appeals court ordered the Netherlands to stop exporting F-35 fighter jet parts to Israel, following a lawsuit filed by several non-profit organizations alleging human rights violations. The court ruled that the Netherlands had acted unlawfully and must comply with international agreements and treaties. In the second case, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for two Russian commanders for alleged war crimes committed in Ukraine. The warrants were issued based on evidence of missile strikes on Ukrainian electric infrastructure carried out by Russian armed forces. Both cases highlight the role of the judiciary in regulating foreign policy and enforcing international law. [Extracted from the article]
