Abstract
- The Philippines has accused China of deliberately damaging a Filipino civilian boat by firing water cannons at it in the disputed South China Sea. The boat, named Unaizah May 4, was on its way to resupply Filipino troops stationed at an outpost when it was targeted by two China Coast Guard ships. The incident follows a previous confrontation earlier this month where two China Coast Guard vessels also fired water cannons at a Philippine boat. The Philippines has been maintaining the BRP Sierra Madre, a military outpost in the Second Thomas Shoal, which China opposes. [Extracted from the article]
