Abstract
- A recent study conducted by the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) has provided new insights into posterior cortical atrophy (PCA), a rare syndrome associated with Alzheimer's disease. The study analyzed data from 1,092 individuals evaluated at 36 research centers in 16 countries. The findings revealed that PCA typically presents as a pure, young-onset dementia syndrome that is highly specific for underlying Alzheimer's disease pathology. Further research is needed to understand the factors that contribute to cognitive vulnerability and progression rates in PCA. [Extracted from the article]
