Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at King Khalid University in Saudi Arabia aimed to evaluate the knowledge, attitude, and self-care practices regarding common eye diseases in the general population. The study involved a systematic literature review of 18 articles published between 1998 and 2023. The findings revealed that overall, people had lower knowledge about glaucoma compared to other eye diseases, and there were differences in knowledge between men and women. Additionally, the study found a significant relationship between age and knowledge of various eye diseases, with individuals with higher education having more knowledge. The researchers concluded that efforts should be made to increase public knowledge about glaucoma and encourage regular visits to eye physicians. [Extracted from the article]
