Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Duke University School of Medicine examined the association between urbanicity and outcomes among patients with spinal cord ependymomas (SCEs) in the United States. The study found that access to neurosurgical care and patient outcomes can be significantly influenced by patient location. The researchers analyzed data from the Central Brain Tumor Registry of the United States and found that individuals residing in nonmetropolitan counties had different demographic compositions compared to those in metropolitan counties. The study highlights the importance of understanding the relationship between patients' residential location and access to neurosurgical care in order to ensure equitable distribution of care.
