Abstract

A recent study conducted in Gwangju, South Korea, focused on the African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV), which causes a highly lethal disease in domestic pigs and wild boars. The researchers aimed to develop a safe and effective vaccine for ASFV, but faced challenges due to the lack of a suitable cell line for virus propagation. They identified a novel cell line, CAS-01, which showed high permissiveness for ASFV replication and demonstrated stable replication and adaptation over multiple passages. The researchers concluded that CAS-01 cells hold promise for the isolation, replication, and development of live attenuated vaccines against ASFV. [Extracted from the article]
