Abstract
- A recent report from the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil discusses the importance of developing vaccines for visceral leishmaniasis (VL), a parasitic disease. Currently, there are no vaccines available for human VL caused by Leishmania infantum, so the focus has shifted to developing vaccines for canine visceral leishmaniasis (CVL). The report highlights the use of chimeric proteins as a strategy to improve vaccine coverage and discusses recent patents related to chimeric protein vaccines for CVL. The research aims to facilitate the screening and selection of antigens for the development of highly effective vaccines against VL. [Extracted from the article]
