Abstract

This article discusses a study that explores the impact of cognitive impairment on the long-term risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) in older adults with non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTEACS) undergoing invasive treatment. The study found that cognitive impairment was associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality, even after adjusting for frailty and other factors. However, there was no significant difference in the occurrence of MACEs between the cognitively impaired group and the normal cognition group. The findings suggest that routine cognitive screening may be beneficial in risk stratification for older adults with NSTEACS. [Extracted from the article]
