Abstract

A recent study from King's College in London highlights the impact of more severe atopic dermatitis (AD) and psoriasis on quality of life, multimorbidity, and healthcare costs. The lack of reliable biomarkers for this at-risk group hinders proactive intervention. To address this, the BIOMAP consortium has curated clinical and molecular data from various sources to map disease severity instruments and measures. The study emphasizes the importance of considering biomarker purpose, clinical context, and stage of development when analyzing datasets, as well as validating biomarker associations with disease severity outcomes. This research aims to provide clinically relevant and patient-centric insights for future efforts. [Extracted from the article]
