Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Chubu University in Japan has provided new insights into the field of biophysics and physicobiology. The study focused on the observation of sarcomere chaos induced by changes in calcium concentration in cardiomyocytes. The researchers found that heating cardiomyocytes to a specific temperature range induced hyperthermal sarcomeric oscillations (HSOs), which combined chaotic instability and homeostatic stability. They named this chaotic sarcomere instability as Sarcomere Chaos with Changes in Calcium Concentration (S4C). The findings suggest that S4C is a crucial sarcomeric property that supports the rapid and flexible ventricular diastole in the heart. [Extracted from the article]
