Abstract

Abstract. One of the prime goals of the COMPASS experiment at CERN is the study of the light meson spectrum, with a particular emphasis on the search for exotic states. The focus of this paper is on signals of the lightest hybrid can didate π<subscript>1</subscript>(1600) with spin-exotic quantum numbers J<superscript>PC</superscript>= 1<superscript>−+</superscript> in several decay channels such as π<superscript>−</superscript>π<superscript>+</superscript>π<superscript>−</superscript>, r<superscript>w</superscript>π<superscript>−</superscript>, ωπ<superscript>−</superscript>π<superscript>0</superscript>, π<superscript>−</superscript>π<superscript>+</superscript>π<superscript>−</superscript>η, and K<subscript>S</subscript>K<subscript>S</subscript>π. In addition, we highlight new results for the K<superscript>−</superscript>π<superscript>+</superscript>π<superscript>−</superscript> final state, which indicate a supernumerary state with respect to the constituent quark model with J<superscript>P</superscript> = 0<superscript>−</superscript>.
