Abstract
- The kowari, a small carnivorous marsupial native to Australia, is on the brink of extinction. With just 1,200 individuals left in the wild, the federal government has upgraded its conservation status from vulnerable to endangered. The decline of the kowari is attributed to threats such as land degradation from pastoralism and predation from feral cats and foxes. To save the species, efforts are needed to limit grazing, control feral cat populations, and establish safe havens for reintroduction. [Extracted from the article]
