Abstract
- Thromboembolic disease is a common complication of cancer and is the second most common cause of death in cancer patients. Cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT) can disrupt anticancer treatment and negatively impact patients' quality of life. Research efforts have focused on understanding the mechanisms behind CAT, identifying biomarkers, and developing improved treatments. This issue of Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis addresses the prevalence of thrombosis in different cancer types, risk factors for arterial thrombosis, and various biomarkers for CAT. It also explores the role of the hemostatic system in promoting cancer growth and metastasis. The issue concludes with discussions on the effect of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy on hemostasis and the interactions between antineoplastic agents and direct oral anticoagulants. Overall, the issue provides valuable insights for researchers, clinicians, and cancer patients. [Extracted from the article]
