Abstract

The article discusses the concept of Feature Reassembly (FR) in the context of second language acquisition (SLA). The authors argue that FR, which focuses on the interaction between syntax and morphology, should be replaced by an exoskeletal approach to syntax. They emphasize the importance of incorporating updated theoretical approaches to morphosyntax within SLA research. However, they express concerns that the proposed exoskeletal approach does not generate predictions for the processes of SLA in the same way that FR does. They suggest that further articulation of the benefits of the exoskeletal approach for SLA research is needed. [Extracted from the article]
