Abstract

This article, titled "From the child's perspective," discusses the disengagement of acquisition specialists in theoretical linguistics due to the lack of new testable predictions. The authors propose a concept called "feature reassembly" to explain the difficulties that adolescents and adults face when learning a second or third language, particularly with morphology. They also explore the relationship between phonology and syntax, specifically in the context of French gender assignment. The authors suggest that a revised concept of parameters can help explain the acquisition problems faced by L2 French learners. However, further research is needed to determine the existence of phonological gender assignment. [Extracted from the article]
