Abstract

A report from the University of Lagos discusses research on malaria prevention in Nigeria. The study focused on the use of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) and how various factors influenced their use among mothers and children in different regions of the country. The research found that factors such as place of residence, mother's age, education, wealth, religion, number of children in the household, and previous experience of child mortality were associated with the use of ITNs. Surprisingly, residents in the northern region had better access to and used ITNs more than those in the southern region. The study suggests that mother's characteristics are more important than the child's factors in the use of ITNs. [Extracted from the article]
