Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of Gothenburg and Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Sweden investigated the role of a protein kinase called MST4 in the development of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The researchers found that genetic ablation of MST4 in mice did not alleviate the susceptibility to MASLD or improve glucose and insulin homeostasis in the context of nutritional stress. These findings suggest that MST4 may not be a viable target for pharmacotherapy for MASLD. The study was supported by various funding sources and published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences. [Extracted from the article]
