Abstract

A report from the Affiliated Hospital of Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities in Guangxi, China, discusses a new platform for detecting the pathogen Escherichia coli O157:H7. The platform uses cyclic DNA nanostructure@AuNP tags and a cascade primer exchange reaction to identify small amounts of pathogens in real samples. The platform has demonstrated high sensitivity and accuracy, comparable to or greater than traditional qPCR methods. It can detect low levels of E. coli O157:H7 in complex samples such as water, milk, and serum, and has the potential for use in food analysis and early infection diagnosis.
