Abstract

A recent study conducted by the University of Novi Sad in Serbia explores the connection between organic agriculture and sustainable development goals (SDGs). The research highlights the need to bridge the gap between the potential and actual implementation of SDGs in Serbia. The study identifies factors such as consumer awareness, acceptance of alternative agricultural systems, and the volatility of conventional agriculture as barriers to the development of organic agriculture in the country. Integrating organic agriculture into the SDGs framework has the potential to transform local food systems and have positive impacts on the environment and society. The researchers suggest focusing on creating entry points for agricultural transformation based on certified organic methodologies and integrating agricultural heritage into the realization of SDGs.
