Abstract

A report from the Institute of Child and Youth Health Care of Vojvodina in Novi Sad, Serbia discusses the clinical characteristics of an outbreak of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) in children. HFMD is a common viral infection that primarily affects young children and is caused by members of the human enterovirus genus. The study analyzed 83 children diagnosed with HFMD and found that the outbreak occurred in younger children, with an average age of 3.10 years. The researchers emphasize the importance of health professionals being well-informed about the clinical features and course of the disease, and recommend good personal hygiene and surveillance systems to prevent the spread of HFMD.
