Abstract
- Captain Carl L. Sitter, a US Marine Corps veteran, earned the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir in the winter of 1950. The battle took place during the Korean War, with the US 1st Marine Division defending against a large Chinese Army force. Sitter's company, George Company, played a crucial role in the battle, fighting against overwhelming odds and harsh winter conditions. Despite sustaining multiple wounds, Sitter displayed exceptional leadership and bravery, leading his men and ensuring the mission's success. After retiring from the military, Sitter worked for the Virginia Department of Social Services and later pursued a degree in Christian ministry. He passed away in 2000 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. [Extracted from the article]
