Abstract

A study conducted in Italy examined the use of endoscopic ultrasound-guided gallbladder drainage (EUS-GBD) using lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMS) as a treatment for acute cholecystitis (AC) in fragile patients. The study included 116 patients from 19 Italian centers and found that EUS-GBD had high rates of technical and clinical success, although there were some adverse events. The study concluded that EUS-GBD is an effective treatment option for fragile patients with AC. Further research is needed to explore long-term outcomes and recurrence rates.
