Abstract

A recent study conducted at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital explored the potential of using Quantitative Ultrasound (QUS) enhanced by artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the accuracy of breast cancer diagnosis. The researchers collected B-mode images and radiofrequency signals from breast lesions and analyzed parameters such as Attenuation Coefficient (AC), Speed of Sound (SoS), Effective Scatterer Diameter (ESD), and Effective Scatterer Concentration (ESC). The study found that AC, SoS, and ESD showed significant differences between benign and malignant lesions, while ESC did not. A logistic regression model developed using these parameters achieved a high level of accuracy in distinguishing between benign and malignant lesions. However, further studies are needed to validate these findings and optimize the system for clinical use. [Extracted from the article]
