Abstract
- A recent report from the University of Cambridge discusses the unique communication needs of teenagers and young adults with cancer (TYACs). The study aimed to understand who is present during healthcare consultations with TYACs, their experiences of communication with a supporter present, and the impact of this supporter on communication. The review found that mothers were the most common supporter present in clinical communication encounters, and TYACs' experiences of triadic communication were paradoxical. The study concludes that healthcare professionals need further training on effective triadic communication with TYACs. [Extracted from the article]
