Abstract

Researchers at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Australia have conducted a study on the use of nanocarbons in cancer imaging and therapy. Nanocarbons, such as carbon nanodots, nanodiamonds, carbon nanoonions, and carbon nanohorns, have shown promise in early cancer diagnosis and treatment. The study reviews the synthesis, fluorescence properties, toxicity, and surface functionalization of these nanocarbons, as well as their applications in cancer diagnostics and therapy. The researchers also discuss the potential for large-scale manufacturing of nanocarbons and propose future research opportunities in this field. [Extracted from the article]
