This article introduces a special issue of the Journal of Contemporary Issues in Education dedicated to honoring Professor Michael Marker, an Arapaho scholar and educator specializing in Indigenous education. The articles in this issue explore themes such as decolonizing education, Indigenous resistances, and the importance of place and land-based knowledge. The authors emphasize the need to amplify Indigenous voices and challenge Eurocentric academic practices.
