Abstract

This article is a profile of artist Lisa Thorpe, who began her artistic journey as a child sewing clothes for her Barbie dolls. She later pursued a degree in Design with an emphasis in textiles and wearable art. After a period of focusing on other mediums, Thorpe rediscovered fabric as her primary medium and began experimenting with various techniques. She started sharing her discoveries through articles and workshops, primarily with quilt guilds and art quilters. The pandemic and a move to Little Rock, Arkansas, provided Thorpe with an opportunity to express herself through her art, resulting in a series of art pieces titled "Shift Happens" and larger works exploring themes of doors, shadows, and personal transformation. Thorpe's work is deeply personal and universal, reflecting her observations and experiences in her new surroundings. [Extracted from the article]
