Abstract

The local grid in several areas of Karachi, Pakistan, is unable to support the installation of new solar power systems due to a lack of improvement. The solar energy sector in Pakistan has experienced significant growth in recent years, with the government's policies supporting the industry. However, the industry still faces challenges, such as the subdued purchasing power of consumers. The expansion of solar power systems is hindered by the grid's capacity, which has reached its limit in certain areas of Karachi. The payback period for solar systems is shortened, leading consumers to expand their home solar systems. The possibility of launching a wheeling system in 2024 is being considered, which would improve the renewable energy sector. The market for solar panels in Pakistan has experienced fluctuations in prices, but consumers have benefited from the decline in panel prices. Quality control of solar panels has improved, with importers required to import equipment from tier-one companies or undergo third-party inspections. [Extracted from the article]
