Abstract
- Woodside Energy Group has agreed to sell a 15.1% stake in its Scarborough liquefied natural gas project to Jera Co., Japan's largest power producer, for $1.4 billion. The deal includes a $740 million purchase price and reimbursement for project spending off the coast of Western Australia. Woodside CEO Meg O'Neill stated that the purchase demonstrates the project's importance to Japanese customers and their confidence in long-term demand. The Scarborough project, which has faced opposition from climate activists, is expected to produce up to 8 million tons of LNG per year and deliver its first shipment in 2026.
