Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Hainan University in China explored the potential benefits of a polysaccharide derived from jackfruit pulp (JFP-Ps) in mitigating enteritis, a condition characterized by inflammation of the small intestine. The study found that JFP-Ps reduced tissue damage in the small intestine by decreasing the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and increasing the expression of anti-inflammatory cytokines. Additionally, JFP-Ps alleviated oxidative stress, improved the mechanical barrier function of the intestine, and activated the SCFA-GPR41/GPR43 axis, which is involved in maintaining intestinal health. These findings suggest that JFP-Ps may have potential as a functional food for promoting intestinal health. [Extracted from the article]
