Abstract
- A recent report from Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan explores the impact of deforestation on child health in poor regions of the world, specifically focusing on Cambodia. The study found that exposure to prenatal deforestation is associated with lower birth weight and decreased height and weight-for-age scores in children. The researchers also suggest that pregnant women in areas with high rates of deforestation are more likely to be anemic, which may be a proxy for malaria infection. This research provides valuable insights into the implications of climate change on the wellbeing of vulnerable populations. [Extracted from the article]
