Abstract
- A recent study conducted by the Animal Health Research Institute in Assiut, Egypt, examined the skin histopathological responses of Oreochromis niloticus (Nile tilapia) during transportation in water with and without salt. The research found that transportation of live fish can be stressful and impact animal welfare. The study concluded that the addition of salt during transportation appeared to preserve the surface skin features of the fish and lessen the stress of transportation. This research highlights the importance of maintaining the health of the skin and its mucous cover during transportation. [Extracted from the article]
