Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the University of Massachusetts explored the test-retest reliability and reliable change indices (RCIs) of a mobile application neurocognitive test among middle and high school athletes. The study found that the neurocognitive measures had low test-retest reliability over a one-year period in both middle and high school settings. However, there were improvements in reaction time, impulse control, and inspection time upon retesting. The study also noted that cognitive development throughout adolescence could mask postconcussion deficits, and that age and sex should be considered when assessing neurocognitive performance in student-athletes.
