Abstract

The Journal of Southeast Asian Human Rights reflects on the year gone by, highlighting the war in Ukraine and the conflict in Gaza as significant events that have tested the protection of human rights during times of war. The conflict in Gaza, in particular, has resulted in the violation of international humanitarian laws, with civilians being targeted and essential infrastructure being destroyed. The articles in this issue of the journal explore the relationship between religion and human rights, the impact of religious outlooks on policies regarding prostitution, agrarian conflicts in Indonesia, the protection of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia, and the need to consider local customs when implementing human rights. The journal emphasizes the importance of upholding human rights to prevent social conflicts and violence. [Extracted from the article]
