Development of information repository(IR) in academic institutions - a study.

On the basis of available published literature it is attempted to study the concept of IR, its usefulness and availability in academic institutions, user's responses thereon. It is found that the concept is very useful to the students and researchers to have free access to required information easily and on time. The concept of copy right law has visible impact on development of IR. With these gathered information the researcher's attempt to study the status of implementation of IR in selected universities and research institutions of North East India is also hinted.
