Abstract
- Flying saw improved safety records in 2023, with the fewest fatalities on passenger jets since 2017. However, Russia experienced a significant increase in air-safety incidents due to sanctions that have made it difficult for airlines to acquire necessary parts for maintenance. Despite this, fatalities in Russia remained below previous years' levels. In other parts of the world, concerns about air safety were raised after incidents in Japan and the US, leading to increased oversight and requests for additional staff. Overall, advancements in manufacturing standards and lessons learned from past accidents have contributed to reducing fatalities in aviation. [Extracted from the article]
