Abstract: Isomeric states of the neutron-rich isotope <superscript>189</superscript><subscript>73</subscript>Ta<subscript>116</subscript> were populated via fragmentation of a primary beam of <superscript>208</superscript>Pb ions at 1 GeV/u impinging on a <superscript>9</superscript>Be target at GSI, Darmstadt, Germany. The isotopes of interest were separated, identified and delivered to the DESPEC setup. Two isomers were deduced in <superscript>189</superscript>Ta<subscript>116</subscript> and their lifetimes were measured based on the γ-ray time distributions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
