Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Hasselt University in Belgium explored the impact of exercise intensity on the prevention of adverse cardiac remodeling and dysfunction in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in rats. The study compared the effects of moderate-intensity exercise training (MIT) and high-intensity interval exercise training (HIIT) on T2DM development. The findings revealed that both MIT and HIIT were effective in halting T2DM development and preventing cardiac abnormalities. However, the two exercise modalities appeared to use different adaptive mechanisms. This research provides valuable insights into the potential cardioprotective benefits of exercise in individuals with T2DM. [Extracted from the article]
