Abstract

A recent study conducted by the Italian Institute of Technology has explored the use of bio-compatible AlN piezoelectric skin sensors to monitor cardiovascular health. The researchers propose the use of miniaturized, flexible devices placed on the wrist, neck, and chest to detect skin deformations caused by cardiac events. These devices can provide multiple biomarkers for monitoring cardiovascular health and assessing disease risk. Initial trials have shown promising results, with extracted parameters strongly correlating with reference values for pulse rate, breathing rate, and heart sounds. This research offers potential for the development of efficient, individualized treatments and early diagnosis solutions for cardiovascular diseases. [Extracted from the article]
