Abstract

Researchers at Manipal University in Jaipur, India have developed bioactive bone scaffolds using a biomimetic approach. The scaffolds are made from a combination of fluorcanasite-fluorapatite nanoparticles and poly-(epsilon-caprolactone) (PCL) bio-nanocomposite. The scaffolds have a hierarchical porosity that matches the architecture of natural bone and promote biomineralization, tunable degradation, and cellular response. The study demonstrates a promising strategy for the development of composite bone scaffolds for expedited bone repair. [Extracted from the article]
